But, why?

"But why?" Brad asked too confused by his sudden transformation to be angry right away "You tell me you've found a phone app to reprogram reality, and to prove it you decide to change us into aa pair of bimbos instead of, I don't know, basketball players or something?"
"Well, duh!" Helena, as Gary now insisted on being called, giggled, her obvious enthusiasm bubbling out, "Obviously I had to turn us into girls. That's what all guys dream about, right? Take a break from all that itchy nasty body hair and ugly big muscles. We get to smell nice and dress up pretty, I bet we'll have so much fun! Come on, we had to at least try it out."
"Helena," Brad said, pausing while a radiant smile spread across his friend's face at his use of her chosen name before continuing as carefully and calmly as he could manage, "I need you to listen to me.
Guys.
Do not.
Wish.
To be.
Girls!"
"Come on, don't be silly. I'm a guy and I think about growing my own tits all the time," Helena laughed, "Maybe not permanently but everyone thinks about at least trying things out from the other side, right? It's not like any of us likes being a guy, right?"
Brad, shook his head, flinching when the motion made his long hair swish over his bare shoulders. He'd always suspected his friend's preference for female avatars was more than an ascetic choice but he'd never found a good way to broach the subject.
Brad opened his mouth to say something cutting but one thought made him swallow his irritation. The way he felt right now, the awful nagging wrongness of having this woman's body, was that how Helena felt when she'd been Gary?
Perhaps he shouldn't judge his friend too harshly for developing a few coping mechanisms, including, it seems, a bloody minded refusal to see what was now obvious to Brad.
Best not take a sledgehammer hammer to the shell of his clueless egg friend, not when that might crush the newly liberated girl's spirits. She would figure things out for herself soon enough, he was sure.
In the meantime, her infectious joy was enough compensation for the temporary discomfort of being the wrong sex for a few hours. As long as next time they used the app, Helena let him choose his own, definitely male, body!
